A Video Overview of LiSA
Welcome to the Liquid Sunlight Alliance!
LiSA - the Fuels Hub - is a U.S. Department of Energy Innovation Hub devoted to advancing the science of light-driven synthesis of fuels, chemicals, and materials. We are a diverse team of more than 100 scientists across six institutions, with backgrounds in chemistry, physics, materials science, and chemical and electrical engineering. Together, we are working to produce liquid fuels and valuable chemicals directly from water, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen, using the energy of photons and electrons.
LiSA is forging a new path toward light-driven fuel and chemical production with catalytic selectivity, energy efficiency, and durability. Our research focuses on the fundamental catalytic, interfacial, and transport processes governing these transformations. To speed discovery, LiSA is combining artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-throughput experimentation with data science methods to accelerate the search for new synthesis routes for fuels and chemicals. That accelerated knowledge generation framework lays the groundwork for new manufacturing pathways that can strengthen domestic industry and drive economic growth.
The energy and manufacturing opportunities ahead call for a bold, innovative approach to generating the science needed to advance them. I invite you to join us on this exciting journey as we accelerate the discovery of fuels and chemicals.
